business, ICI has formed a strong bond with the Rubber Industry backed by expert technical
service from a large team of Application Research and Development personnel reinforcing
our commitment to providing the best solutions. Technical innovation is one of our core
strengths which has enabled us to administer effective solutions to the tire and rubber
industry. As a result, ICI enjoys the market leadership position and is constantly guiding
the industry on rubber technology.
ICI Rubber Chemicals is also committed to providing
comprehensive care to the environment it operates in, including its customers and business
assoiciates. Worldwide, ICI has been an industry leader in the areas of Safety, Health and
Environment, (SH & E) and regularly conducts its product stewardship programmes to
ensure the safety of the environment in the life-cycle of the product, from manufacture to
disposal after use.
Used in a wide variety of end products, basic rubber needs treatment for texture, strength and longevity.
ICI India helps provide this with the countrys most diverse range of accelerators,
antiozonants, antioxidants, retarders and peptisers manufactured at Indias first
rubber chemicals plant, and at the new state-of-the-art antiozonant plant set up in
technical collaboration with Sumitomo Chemicals of Japan, at Rishra, West Bengal.
Technology upgradation is our forte. The successful
"Accinox" range of
antioxidants bears testimony to our sustained research efforts. Indigenous research helped
us develop seven new products in the last four years, giving us a host of leading brands
such as "Accicure", "Accimel" and "Accitard", and making "Accinox ZC" one of the most sought after antiozonants of leading tyre
manufacturers.
The stimulus for building a successful business lies in
developing a keen understanding of customer needs and finding effective solutions for
them. Collaborative studies enable greater interaction with customers. One such study
helped us design an innovative packaging system for our major
speciality antioxidant "Accinox BL/ BLN".
Packed in dispersible, rubber compatible thermoplastic materials to specific customer
requirements, it enables accurate dosing, ensures safety and eliminates material loss
during handling.
The Indian Rubber Industry is expected to grow on an
annual trend of 8% in the medium term. The business is investing in the medium term to
debottleneck capacities, improve conversion efficiencies, improve physical form and
automate through instrumentation. Fresh investment is also being undertaken to expand
capacity to manufacture products intended primarily for export market.
