Product Stewardship

Product stewardship involves taking responsibility for products throughout their life cycle. Making stewardship work is a challenge that ICI has confronted, with a Group-wide programme to, first, ensure that the idea is fully understood and, second, to measure progress.

Product Stewardship is one of the elements of the Responsible Care programme, a voluntary initiative by the chemical industry to demonstrate its commitment to safety and effective environmental management.

Every business in ICI has one or more people who are responsible for product stewardship. They hold regular meetings on the subject with their colleagues to champion the cause and establish methods to measure progress. Group-wide meetings are also held to ensure that product stewards are sharing information and knowledge. We also have a computerized system to ensure good communications on product stewardship between ICI sites world-wide .
